fourth of july

How was your fourth of July? Hopefully you didn't have to work! I have no pictures to post today...but wanted to wish everyone a super great weekend!

I hung out with family today. We started our day with some chat and then headed over to Hallmark and Target for a bit. I found software that helps you build your own website which I'm going to try out right now. I already have a website: www.aloomanart.com but the problem is...it's not updated, nor will it ever be updated because my old book publicist created it for me and he was fired shortly after so now when you search my name this retarded website of "mine" pops up and if you click the contact me link it has all of his info in it! sooooooo I'm going to try my best to create a new website to take its place. Wish me luck!

After that we came home, played rummi and caught up on some of our favorite family shows like the bachelorette, and that truth show. Had a BBQ, and broke out the ping pong table. I totally won both games, but my aunt seems to believe she won one of them lolllll ;) (kidding tante)!!! we both won a game. Lastly we all watched
"The Break up" which was cute but very slow and drawn out.

Talk to you all later! :D

fun finds

Hi all!! wow I know. My blogging has gotten sooooooooo bad the past month! I'm going to try better from now on. Lots to share today!
First, I got the new Girly Girl collection from sis tv and totally diggin it. I'm not much of a pastel person so I don't really like these layouts so much...but to prove I've been scrappin ;)

Everything but the flowers are in the collection :) eeeck...the pictures are bad too haha.
Went to the local park and just walked around for a bit. It was really refreshing to step into nature and out of the "city" life ya know?

Do you guys ever read Amber U. blog? the girl is just the cutest thing to walk green earth, and she's got such a fun urban style with a mix of fancy. So anyways...months ago I saw these vintage frames she found in a thrift shop and ever since I've been telling myself that I HAVE to find some of my own. Welps, I got lucky and found these babies in the local dollar store. They were bronze but I used Gesso and light blue paint to make them look old :) and I still have to put a picture in the third one LOL.

other fun finds..
I bought a couple of these at Big Lots for 5 dollars each! 5 dollars people! loooooove them...the black damasks are velvet

Found a better way to organize my flowers

Found a place that can print my photos at 12"x17"! very exciting!

and lastly, I got word that Michaels definitely will carry my paper line (by prima) and should hit shelves in March 2009 :D it's a long ways away but something to look forward to, and super exciting considering how picky they can be hehe ;b

The more I see this guys stuff the more I'm obsessed with it. My uncle has almost all of his books, toys, and a couple prints too. He's totally popular in the designer toy, and art industry and I just LOVEEee his imagination. Just when you think he won't be able to think of something different...he will blow your mind all over again. He's just that great. ;)
Tim Biskup (link in sidebar):

Isn't he just sooooooo imaginative??? I wish I could buy everything! Because of his popularity his stuff is actually pretty expensive. His toys are limited editions so they run anywhere from 65-over a 100 and they aren't even that big haha. Don't even get me started on his prints...those are just insane. But yah I'd say he is my favorite artist of all time.
But I also dig these:
by kathy Olivias

Her stuff can sometimes be a little dark and disturbing but overall she's a really great artist.
Also into these sweet finds...most of them are already sold out though ;b

Time is going to be very thin the next couple of months...I'm working on a second book :) but I'll make sure to still post eye candy :D

beach

So as promised, here's my real post for today :)

Went with my fam to the beach

Maybe it's just because I don't go to the beach often enough but it was super gorgeous today! The sunset was killer, and it was just nice to spend those relaxing moments with family ya know? Here's a little snippet of our drive home ;)

been getting creative :)

and some pics from fathers day. But typical...no pictures of any fathers lol. My uncle wasn't feeling photogenic...he doesn't dig doing the whole photo thing. We had a really nice BBQ though :)

and I'm totally into this video! I like the song...but the video is so amazing...love love love how artistic it is.
and this right here is my favorite commercial of all time :)

Welp, I hope to upload some scrapbooking soon! :) thanks for peekin! Hugs, Adrienne

I'll update later tonight...like late late tonight hehe :) no scrapbook pages to show for it though...just some pics. I have to get off my lazy butt and buy some adhesive for the layouts I've done ;)

see ya soon! hugs, Adrienne

soOoOooo

I'm back from Texas ;)

and that photo has nothing to do with me being back but that I recently made it and I likes it :)
but some photos of the short trip. I was only there for two days so I was limited to hotel and airport shots

Have more...but still have to load them which might take a while. Happy belated fathers day!! Did you pamper your special guy? I bought my uncle a gift certificate to this place: www.myplasticheart.com cuz he totally digs that stuff, a 6 pack of german beer and a few lottery tickets.

The meeting in Texas went great! I was very nervous but it was a really interesting experience. Apparently you should not mess around with the settings of a tv in your hotel room, else upon arriving back to your room after dinner theres a great chance your tv will be playing porn. LOL. Try explaining THAT to your boss. Especially when you're sharing the room with your boss, and your boss is the first to notice said "channel" on tv. Talk about the highlight of the trip haha.

I wish I could post some of my recent stuff to prove I've really been scrappin lol...but can't ;( arrrgh. I'll be makin some new stuff soon though so lookin forward to getting all crafty and junk. Anyways, thats about the jist of stuff going on over on my side. Hugs, Adrienne

that I should post something today. Some pictures, or words lol but I'm soooooooooooo exhausted and just want to plop into bed and sleep for a century. I made 9 layouts this week and I can't share any of them yet, but just wanted to pop in to say I haven't forgot about my blog...I just don't have much to post about...especially when I'm thiiiiis tired lol. Hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm leaving for Texas right now so I won't be around to answer emails and such until I get back Friday night ;)

what the dilly?

so what has everyone been up to lately? Any good news with anyone??

I've been pretty good :) I had a TON of fun (ok well to be honest it really was a lot of work but it's fun to LOOK at now that it's done haha) designing papers for Prima the past week. I actually did them on my own time versus at work so thats why I've been totally MIA. but...they are done! And we got the prototypes printed and I loooooooooooooooooooove them!!! I wanted so badly to snatch them and bring them home with me hehe. I don't think they will be at CHA this time around though...but who knows, maybe ;) and it's too soon right now, but I will for SURE show some sneaks when I'm able to.

Other stuff....did you hear about the new copyright law that senate is trying to approve? It's called "The orphan works". Originally I was told and thought that this law would make all artist copyrights void and that basically anyone could take anyone elses art and claim it as their own. I was furious when I heard this! How could they even justify a law like this? What benefits would it provide other than giving deliberate permission to steal? I was totally outraged...TOTALLY. I followed a link that gave me the option to write to congress regarding the act and since then I have received  responses from two senators (I'm sure it was a copy and paste deal lol). Both explaining the same thing. I'll spare you the legal terms that they wrote, but basically they said that the act would allow someone to take someone elses artwork (artwork of course is defined in lots of catagories--clip art, fonts, media designs, paintings, drawings etc) only AFTER they have tried their best to search for the owner of said artwork and cannot contact or find them. Basically people would be required to search for the owner and only then if they are not successful, will they be able to take it and use it. So, if you upload something into a gallery (a photo gallery, an artwork gallery etc) then you should have nothing to worry about because clearly....it's YOUR gallery and is attached to your profile (typically).

So this is what I got from the senate letters back...what do you think? I just have this feeling that theres something they are not telling me. The little fine print is what is bugging me right now. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Oh, and I'll be in Texas for a business thing on thursday and friday next week :) I'm excited...it's my first business trip!

I'll be back to post some eye candy this weekend :D

Todays word of the day is hauking which I learned yesterday meant to kind of bend down/squat in german ;) but I just like the way it sounds lol.
